Fluoride Treatments

What are Fluoride Treatments?

Fluoride treatments help protect your teeth and prevent tooth decay. When a tooth becomes decayed, you may require fillings, root canals, and even extractions. For people who may not get enough fluoride through their drinking water and dental products or individuals who eat high-sugar diets, fluoride treatments can be essential in keeping teeth healthy and strong. The fluoride can be applied like a varnish and is done in just a few seconds in our office.

Why are Fluoride Treatments needed?

Fluoride treatments are ideal for both adult and pediatric patients. The purpose of fluoride treatments is to keep your teeth strong and healthy to prevent cavities. Some of the reasons you fluoride treatments include:

  • You have a high-sugar diet
  • You eat a lot of acidic foods
  • To increase the uptake of fluoride around existing crown and bridge to prevent cavities
  • Your toothpaste does not have fluoride
  • Your water at home does not contain fluoride
  • You have dry mouth and are more prone to root decay

Honestly could not recommend this place more, never have I ever had such great service it was like I was part of the family as soon as a came in. They welcomed me with open arms and listen to all the concerns that I had at the moment on top of that they gave me amazing service even though I asked a lot of questions. I would give them 10 stars if I could, I trust them with mine and my family/friends teeth thank you

What makes you a good candidate for Fluoride Treatments?

We will perform an exam and a consultation before applying an in-office fluoride treatment. Most children are good candidates for fluoride treatments as they are more susceptible to developing cavities. However, it is common for adults to need additional fluoride treatments to protect their teeth. Most patients will benefit from fluoride treatments done regularly, which can be applied to your teeth at each of your bi-annual appointments.

What happens during Fluoride Treatments?

After sitting comfortably, we apply the fluoride using a soft brush. The fluoride is given some time to dry and sink deep into the tooth, where it works to strengthen and protect the tooth. You will be instructed on how long to avoid eating and drinking after the fluoride treatment. You can have these treatments applied at each checkup appointment to keep your teeth as strong as possible and to prevent decay. It is recommended that children get fluoride treatments regularly to protect vulnerable baby teeth.
