Dental Digital X-Rays

What are Dental X-Rays?

Dental digital X-rays Charlotte, sometimes called radiographs, are important diagnostic tools that help us see underlying bone and tooth structure. We recommend X-rays once a year and a complete set is required every couple of years. You may need x-rays at emergency appointments, while having a root canal done or for other complicated procedures like oral surgery. The digital x-rays we use in-office utilize a minimal amount of radiation so they are completely safe.

Why are Dental X-Rays needed?

Dental x-rays should be taken at your dental appointments. Even if there is not a profound problem, these images allow us to see issues that may become larger if they go untreated. Likewise, we may recommend x-rays before surgery or other complicated procedures. Emergency appointments almost always require x-rays because we need to identify the underlying problem that is causing you pain or discomfort.

What makes you a viable candidate for Dental X-Rays?

X-rays can be safely taken on patients of all ages because of the low amount of radiation used. However, before having x-rays taken, we will go over your health and medical history with you. You will have a lead apron draped over your body to protect you from any radiation during the procedure. The benefits of having x-rays taken regularly are apparent in keeping your smile healthy and bright.

What happens when you have Dental X-Rays taken?

You will be greeted by one of our friendly staff members and seated comfortably in our office. We will begin by positioning a small device inside of the mouth and a larger machine is angled towards this device. The x-ray is taken and the image will develop immediately on our computer screens. Once the x-rays have been taken, our doctor will examine them to check for any problems. Your x-rays will be compared at future appointments so that we can diagnose and monitor certain conditions.

If you are ready to come into our office for dental x-rays, call us today and we will schedule a convenient appointment for you and your loved ones.
